There is growing evidence about the numerous benefits of teaching children music. In early learning settings, music can be used as a learning tool to facilitate growth across learning domains and to positively influence children’s social & emotional regulation (Barrett et al., 2018; Williams, 2018).
We’ve developed a termly curriculum that will engage children in musical play and learning with and without instruments, music activities and experiences.
There are many benefits, including development of hand-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skill development, an avenue for creative expression and music also can become a tool for emotional regulation. Our families will be familiar with nap times routines, where we often play soft, soothing music to children to help encourage relaxation and wind-down to give our children the appropriate opportunity to rest and recover, ready for the remainder of the day.
If you have any questions about our music program, please speak to our Centre Manager, Ara – or you can book a tour of Grimshaw St ELC at a time that suits you and your family.
